On Diversity and Inclusion

We celebrated our very first 'Diversity and Inclusion Week' at Max Life Insurance this past week.

Through the many discussions which arose through the days, one thing came out very clearly -- when it comes to diversity, most people limit their thoughts to gender ratios within business and management.

However, diversity has several dimensions to it, such as, age, nation, culture of origin, industry background, career path chosen so far, education background-&-future outlook, interests apart from work/profession, and of course, gender.

But why do we need such varied orders of diversity within the work-space?

From the business lens, it is simply to bring in Innovation (and from the social lens, there is equality and justice).

While many argue as to what really brings in the element of Innovation within an organization, and there are several aspects, however, the data backed* element consistently remains to be diversity and inclusion.
