Thoughts On Cross-Functional Roles

We had a few changes in our roles at my current organisation. In addition to our primary job roles, each of us was assigned a secondary function.

After more than a month, following are my findings:

  • Cross functional role and stretch projects are good ways to bring fresh perspective to old functions.

  • More importantly, it helps to keep the employee in the learning mode.

  • Further, it works for the collective growth of the company, thanks to the individual growth of the employees, (while at the same time, it retains the employees in the organisation).

  • Over and above, this brings out the best of leaderships.

To put it plainly -- the secondary function has brought in a new wave of ideas, both in my current role as well as the added function.
